Halloween 2008
I can't believe October has already come and gone. Where does the time go? I thought the heat would never leave. It's colder here now, but on Halloween we hit a high of 92º!! Way too hot for October!
The Monday before Halloween we made our jack-o-lantern during family night.

Once we cut the top off, Joshua had fun getting all the goo out...

Tylee did not enjoy the pumpkin, the goo, or the whole idea of carving a face into the pumpkin. Lowell tried to include her by sitting her on the table to join in the fun. She was not happy about it though...

Here's what she wanted to do instead...

Yes, she's buckling herself into her seat at the table. She can crawl in there all by herself. I guess this is more fun than playing, eating, and obviously, carving pumpkins as well!
So, behind this next picture was me, carving the pumpkin. Joshua was even helping me for a while, but we couldn't seem to get any good shots of that, because he was being a little ham in front of the camera. I cropped his silliest face to post. It just cracks me up...

Okay, back to carving pumpkins... Here's the finished product! Joshua said it looks like our pumpkin needs to go to the dentist.

On Friday we celebrated Halloween with a trunk-or-treat behind Joshua's school. Our church gave out over 400 hot dogs along with homemade chili and of course pounds and pounds of candy!!
The night before Halloween, I had the kids try on their costumes. Joshua's was too long on the arms and legs so I had to do some mending on it. Tylee was completely uninterested in playing dress-up and was very interested in Joshua's pajamas (which he had taken off to try on his costume). Notice her throwing them in the air in the bottom right side of the picture of Joshua??? A few minutes later she was looking on with interest at what Joshua was doing, but still "wearing" the pajamas.

So, we pinned up Joshua's costume and had him take it off. Next came Tylee. Getting it on her was one thing (and not a fun thing), but getting her to pose for a picture was a whole other thing. She finally gave us a "I'm looking at you... okay?" kind of a look and that was the end of patiently wearing her costume... so off it came.

Joshua was a red Power Ranger (he's never seen the show, but I guess Power Rangers are cool!) and Tylee was Tinkerbell.

Tylee quickly got the hang of trick-or-treating...

The kids came home with lots of candy.

Tylee wanted to eat all the candy right away. Lowell tried to take a picture of Tylee while Joshua was dumping out his candy and here's the reaction...
But five minutes later...

...she was happily hoarding her M&M's!
Halloween is so fun with kids!! Lots of work, but well worth the effort.
