The Journey of Homeownership

Well, I don't have any new pictures for this post, but I wanted to let everyone know how the move has been going. We are 90% finished with painting the kitchen. Even the nearly finished splotches of paint look 100 times better than the weird design that was on the walls previously. I am working on getting some before/after pics to post. Joshua's room is completely done and we have a little trim work left to do in Tylee's room. Than we can start on the other areas of the house.

We were lucky to have my parents make it down last weekend to help us out with some serious yard work. My Dad brought his chain saw and sawzall and we went to town chopping things down. The first thing to go were 4 or 5 oleander bushes in the front yard. Not only are they highly poisonous, but they were dropping these fuzzy things all over the place. We left one on the side of the house, but cut all the others down. We also pruned the existing bushes and trees and than cut down two other really ugly bushes and a vine that was climbing a pillar by our front door. We weren't even sure what they were. Looked like a huge weeds to me! Overall, we are SOOOO happy with the end result. After two truck loads to the dump we are still picking up left over branches and trimmings. Thanks for all your help Mom & Dad!

The unpacking is a slow and annoying process. The obvious things are done... kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, but I miss having pictures on the walls. The garage has become a collect-all for boxes that have things that don't get used very often. At least we can fit one car in our 2-car garage. Ha Ha!

I will work on posting pictures soon. What we've learned about being homeowners is that the work is never done! There is always something to fill your Saturdays, always another project to do, and always money to be spent at Home Depot! We love having a place of our own!!
